This is blog post is not about culture, history, politics, or any of those more lofty ideals that inspire travel. This post is about the beach. Miles and miles of glorious beautiful beach. (And free alcohol).
Sleep/Eat/Drink
Catalonia Bavaro Resort - This all-inclusive resort was ideal and I would return in a heartbeat. The fact that it was all-inclusive made the resort perfect for hedonistic relaxation, but it was also more sophisticated than your typical spring-breaker hotel. Catalonia Bavaro drew a largely international crowd, with a spattering of college students on spring break (us).
The grounds were beautiful and the rooms were very nice, eat outfitted with a jacuzzi tub. The resort was right on the beach and the crystal-clear ocean was perfect for swimming. If we got bored of swimming in the turquoise waters though, we could always hang out by the pool and swim up to the pool-bar for a drink.
The food at the resort was also quite good. In addition to the various buffets, there were four themed restaurants. It was not, of course, big city fine dining, but I thought everything was more than adequate. Particularly good, were all of the fresh fruits and grilled food.
I would certainly return to the Catalonia Bavaro resort and would recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing beach getaway.

DoRelax. Tan. Repeat.

Okay, apparently there are activities to do in Punta Cana...we just didn't do any of them, which suited us just fine.
There were, however, these flying boats! We opted to just watch them from the beach instead of taking a ride.
